One of the biggest challenges we found in our communities was the great difficulty in securing decent employment. At the same time, it was equally challenging for students to stay in school,, as even though education is free, families still see it as an expense since their children are not working.
This is why we created our job placement projectsTo give our young people access to decent jobs while also encouraging them to stay in school and begin valuing their education.

Graduates of our vocational training program can access paid internships at Lahat or the Food Truck.
Many of these students, some who have already completed high school and others still in the process, enter the workforce in the most supportive way possible. By working in these micro-businesses, they not only earn a salary and gain hands-on experience in business operations and customer service, but they also contribute a portion of the profits from orders back to the Glass School. This helps ensure that more young people like them can access quality education.
At the same time, we prioritize their studies, so work schedules are adjusted to their needs to ensure they do not have to abandon their education.

"For me, technical training has always been a motivation to go to school, knowing that thanks to my studies, I could financially support my home and my family." – Greysi Calix, former student of the Glass School and Lahat.
Para mi la formación técnica siempre ha sido una motivación para ir a la escuela, saber que gracias a esos estudios podía apoyar económicamente en mi casa, a mi familia - Greysi Calix, exalumna de la Escuela del Vidrio y de Lahat
Our main goal is for both the Glass School and our other projects to ultimately be run by Hondurans for Hondurans. The more wealth we generate within the communities, the more support we can receive from them, ensuring that all projects become self-sustainable in the future.
In Microcredits for Development, we provide interest-free loans to former students who are interested in starting their own businesses. Additionally, we collaborate in their education and offer support and consulting to help them successfully develop their projects.
Thanks to the Alumni Project, students from the Glass School can do internships abroad, work with other artists, and experience new cultures. This is always a great addition to their résumés, and although not everyone can participate, we always strive to make the opportunity available.
At the Territorial Employment Board in the city of El Progreso, local issues are addressed, and training programs are created to ensure that young people from Progreso have access to decent job opportunities and a better future.
Currently, both Lahat and the Food Truck are located at the Loyola Technical Center. We support the institution, which serves 300 students annually, in maintaining and improving its infrastructure.
The digital divide in Honduras is a harsh reality, 40% of the population does not have access to the internet on their mobile devices.
At the school, we created clubs to provide students with spaces, initiatives, and support systems aimed at bridging the digital divide in all its dimensions.
Currently, this initiative is integrated into technology classes, where students learn to use Microsoft Office tools such as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Additionally, they are taught how to use other design and coding tools to ensure they are well-prepared for today's job market.
Thanks to the Tetuan Valley startup accelerator, we were able to implement their Startup School program in Honduras. Students proposed a business idea and received lectures and feedback to refine their projects. Today, this exercise has been integrated into the economics course, ensuring that all students are required to go through the process and understand how a project is built from the ground up.

In 25 minutes, we tell you the story behind our projects. Get a firsthand look at the school, its community, our students, and teachers.
Thanks to Honduras Cambia: Voces Catrachas, we have been able to give a voice to a reality that is largely unknown outside of Honduras.
